faville grove sanctuary resident land steward
(Permanent, salaried)
The Faville Grove Sanctuary restoration ecologist/land steward is responsible for helping to continue SoWBA’s history of excellence in habitat restoration and management, and public outreach and education. As a condition and benefit of employment, the land steward lives on-site in the sanctuary’s Prairie Lane residence rent-free and with utilities paid by SoWBA. This is a hands-on, year-round position that works collaboratively with the sanctuary managers to monitor, plan, and engage in all sanctuary management and outreach activities. Summer 2025 Diversity in Conservation Internship
Work with Southern Wisconsin Bird Alliance as a Bird Conservation Intern in summer 2025, and gain experience doing the variety of work our organization and staff do! The Natural Resources Foundation of Wisconsin’s Diversity in Conservation Internship provides a meaningful cohort-based experience for Wisconsin undergraduates interested in careers in conservation, and one of the placement options is with SoWBA. The program encourages applicants from historically underrepresented groups. Students from Lawrence University, University of Wisconsin-Madison, and University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee are eligible to apply. Application deadline is Friday, January 24, 2025. Summer 2025 seasonal Ecological restoration internships
Are you looking for summer field experience in habitat restoration and management? SoWBA is hiring two crews of paid interns to work at Faville Grove and Goose Pond Sanctuaries. You will learn tools and techniques of native habitat management, plant identification, and principles of restoration ecology while helping restore prairie, savanna, and wetland habitats in south central Wisconsin. The internship also includes occasional guest visits and field trips. Undergraduates (including seniors graduating in May 2025) of any field of study are encouraged to apply.
