Support birds and habitat across southern Wisconsin
Your generosity ensures the long-term protection of southern Wisconsin’s birds, habitats, and ecosystems. There are several ways to make a meaningful impact today, and create a legacy that endures for generations.
Give From Your IRA (Qualified Charitable Distribution)
If you are age 70½ or older, you may direct a gift from your Individual Retirement Account (IRA) to Southern Wisconsin Bird Alliance without recognizing the distribution as taxable income. A Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) allows you to support the permanent stewardship of birds and habitats in a tax-efficient manner.
Why Consider a QCD?
Tax efficiency: Your gift may be excluded from taxable income.
Satisfies required minimum distributions: If you are age 73 or older, your gift may count toward your RMD.
Lasting conservation impact: Supports strategic land protection, habitat restoration, environmental education, and advocacy.
Direct transfer: Funds move directly from your IRA custodian to Southern Wisconsin Bird Alliance.
Eligibility & Guidelines
Must be 70½ or older at the time of the distribution.
Must transfer directly from your IRA custodian.
Gift must be outright (no goods or services received).
Annual QCD limit: Up to $100,000 per individual (consult your advisor regarding IRS limits).
May satisfy part or all of your RMD for the year.
