Elementary Environmental Summit

Date: Wednesday, May 10, 2017

Location: Verona School Forest: 1577 Fritz Rd., Verona

Time: 9:30 a.m. – 11:15 a.m. OR 1:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m.

Number of volunteers needed: about 10 for each time window

A coalition of elementary schools have been participating in Outdoor Lessons all year! This event is a celebration of all that they have achieved: they’ll spend the entire day outside sharing what they’ve learned all year, and continuing to grow in nature. Lincoln Elementary, Muir Elementary, and Wingra School will all have one grade represented- about 200 kids total!

From 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. volunteers will work with groups of about 10 kids and their chaperones to complete a nature scavenger hunt! Help kids see the world in a different way as you lead them along wooded trails. No special nature expertise needed.

From 1:15 p.m. – 1:45 p.m. students will get to join a group of about 10 kids and their chaperones in the activity of their choosing. . .which also means our volunteers get to choose the lesson they would like to lead! Love birds? Take a group on a bird walk! Think fungi are fantastic? Lead a fungi hunt! Want to pass your survival skills on to the next generation? Now’s your chance! You’re welcome to use MAS educational supplies and lesson kits for your activity.

For this event, we will need a total of about 10 volunteers for each time window.
