Madison Audubon Society has some of the largest restored prairies in Wisconsin. Our Goose Pond Sanctuary, located near Arlington, is a major part of Madison Audubon's restoration efforts...but our restoration work is only possible with the help of volunteers!
Volunteers are needed to help collect prairie seed. Native seed collection saves the genetics of plants that thrive in our local ecosystem, and are then used to restore other areas. We plan to do lots of planting this fall, and there is a lot of prairie seed to collect — your help would be greatly appreciated in creating these seed mixes!
No experience is needed, and families are welcome! Please wear long pants and sturdy shoes. Volunteers will meet at the pole barn at the bottom of the driveway at W7503 Kampen Road, Arlington.
Contact Graham Steinhauer, Goose Pond Land Steward, at gsteinhauer@madisonaudubon.org or 608-333-2947, with questions. RSVP is not required but helpful, especially if we need to cancel due to weather we can contact you.
