DRAWING NATURE: WINTER EDITION

Techniques for drawing the natural world

We’re sorry, this class is full!

If you've longed to have a sketchbook full of nature drawings and observations from your wanderings, this class is for you! Artist, scientist, and MAS education director Carolyn Byers will teach you basic drawing skills (accurate perspective, breaking down the object into basic shapes, building detail, composition), how to experiment with the amount of details you add to your drawing, ways of using different media in botanical illustration (pros and cons of pencil, ink, watercolor, and colored pencil), and how to notice details you might not have seen before. Carolyn will bring lots of fun things to work with: skulls, turtle shells, feathers, nests, bird feet, stuffed birds, etc.

We will provide some supplies for participants to borrow: drawing pencils, clipboards, and erasers. We will also have drawing paper for you to use and keep. Please bring any other art supplies you enjoy working with or would like more practice with.
