Spring migration is here and birds are on the move! Help celebrate the return of our amazing migratory birds like Baltimore Orioles, Ruby-throated Hummingbirds, warblers, and more at this celebration. Activities for children and adults alike, including hummingbird mask-making, sewn bird decorating, information on native plants and a local native plant sale, how to make your home and windows safer for birds, and more!
Participants will also get to see the brand-new window treatment the Verona Public Library put on their big north-facing windows to make Verona a safer place for birds! The library participated in five survey periods for the Bird Collision Corps program, and found those windows were causing many bird-window collisions and mortalities. This is a very common problem, but one that can be solved, and we are so grateful to the library for taking this step to protect our local and migrating birds!
This event is co-hosted by Southern Wisconsin Bird Alliance, SOS Save Our Songbirds, and the Verona Public Library.
World Migratory Bird Day is the day following this event on May 10.
Registration is not required. Join us to celebrate birds!
