Birds see the world differently, and often, that beautiful reflection of the sky is a deadly illusion. Every year, millions of birds are lost to window collisions—but you can help change the narrative. Join the Friends of Lapham Peak for a presentation by WI Master Naturalist, Window Collisions Bird Ambassador, and Southern Wisconsin Bird Alliance partner Samantha Humes. Samantha will share an eye-opening exploration into the science of why these strikes happen and the simple, life-saving steps you can take at home.
Whether you’re a lifelong birder or a backyard nature enthusiast, this one-hour session (plus Q&A) will equip you with the tools to make your windows bird-safe.
Best for: Adults and conservation-minded youngsters who are ready to take action.
If you're interested in attending, please sign up for the event.
Cost of the event is $8 per person. Advanced registration is required. Through the Looking Glass: Why Birds Hit Windows and How to Stop It program will only run with a minimum of 4 tickets sold. Be sure to grab your spot and invite a friend! If we don't reach the minimum all guests will be notified and receive a full refund. If the minimum is not met, the program will be cancelled on or before June 6, 2026.
