RESCHEDULED: Birding at Baxter's Hollow

This field trip is was originally scheduled for May 19 but was postponed due to weather.

Baxter’s Hollow is one of the most scenic areas in the Baraboo Hills. We will search for breeding species like the winter wren, worm-eating, mourning, cerulean, and hooded warblers, Louisiana waterthrush, both cuckoos, and any migrants passing through. The trip will depart from the Middleton Park & Ride at 6:30 a.m, or meet at Baxter's Hollow (Stones Pocket Road) at 7:15 a.m.

ACCESSIBILITY FEATURES:

  • Trail grade and #/type of trail impediments are ok for those with difficulty walking or wearing children in packs

  • Field trip leader is adept at birding by ear and can accommodate those with visual impairments

  • Mostly on paved road, but the terrain is steep in sections

APPROXIMATE DISTANCE FOR WALKING: 1-3 miles
