We’re sorry, this field trip is canceled due to concerns around COVID-19.

However, we will post resources soon for you to recreate this trip on your own! Stay tuned.

We will explore the birds, wildflowers and the Baraboo Hills ecology in action at the beautiful and unique Hemlock Draw State Natural Area. We will decide our route the morning of, depending on the weather and phenology. We’ll likely find breeding Louisiana waterthrush, winter wren, migrant waterbirds and songbirds, grand geology, and rich displays of wildflowers. Bring water, snack, and appropriate & waterproof footwear for a mile-long hike on rugged terrain.

If you wish to carpool, meet at 7:00 a.m. at the Middleton Park & Ride (4340 Parmenter Street, Middleton), or meet at 8:00 a.m. at the gravel parking across from Sprecher’s Bar (E7513 Co Rd C, North Freedom, WI 53951)
