Southern Wisconsin Bird Alliance has some of the largest restored prairies in Wisconsin. Our Faville Grove Sanctuary, located just north of Lake Mills, is a major part of SoWBA's restoration efforts... but our restoration work is only possible with the help of volunteers!
Volunteers are needed to help collect prairie seed, and on some weeks, cleaning and processing seeds. Native seed collection saves the genetics of plants that thrive in our local ecosystem, and are then used to restore other areas.
No experience is needed! Please wear long pants, sturdy shoes, and bring water to drink. Volunteers will meet at the Faville Grove Sanctuary kiosk at W7480 Prairie Lane, Lake Mills. Volunteer events will be held regardless of rain, but rainy days will be spent cleaning, processing, and storing already collected seed at our seed barn
Seed collecting at Faville Grove Sanctuary is held Sept. 4-Nov. 2, Wednesdays from 9:30am-12:00pm and Saturdays from 9:30am-12:00pm and 1:30-4:00pm.
