Privacy and Commenting Policies
This privacy policy identifies the ways Southern Wisconsin Bird Alliance (SoWBA) collects, uses, and protects personally identifiable information, as well as your options for accessing and correcting that information. Please note that SoWBA does not share your personal information with third parties for marketing/promotional purposes.

In various places on our website, we collect email addresses and other basic contact information for the purpose of allowing people to subscribe to Southern Wisconsin Bird Alliance publications or RSVP for events. We also collect contact information from individuals who choose to donate to us via our website to process their donations, acknowledge gifts, and keep donors informed about the impact of our work.
Our website may set “cookies” for the purpose of collecting aggregate statistics about the total number of visitors to our website. We do not store any personally identifiable information in cookies.
Some of our emails and online publications use tracked hyperlinks that may contain personally identifiable information and let us see what is clicked and which pages are being visited. We use this information to improve our website and communications, but do not sell or share this information.

Southern Wisconsin Bird Alliance partners with third-party service providers to host our website and other online publications. Third-party service providers are not permitted to use or share any personally identifiable information that we provide to them. Southern Wisconsin Bird Alliance does not share any of the personally identifiable information we collect with other outside parties, unless we have received your specific permission to do so.
Southern Wisconsin Bird Alliance uses personally identifiable records of people’s interactions with our online publications as a means for better understanding their interest in our work. At some point in time, this information may be used to personalize the communications and other information individuals receive from Southern Wisconsin Bird Alliance.
Like most website operators, our web servers create log files. These track data on Internet protocol (IP) addresses, browser type, Internet service provider (ISP), referring/exit pages, platform type, date/time stamp, and number of clicks to enable us to administer the site, analyze trends, track user movement in the aggregate, and gather broad demographic information for aggregate use. Server log files do not contain personally identifiable information.
-
Southern Wisconsin Bird Alliance takes every precaution to protect our users’ information. When users submit information via the website, their information is protected both online and offline.
When we transfer and receive certain types of sensitive information, such as financial information, we redirect visitors to a secure outside vendor’s server (currently, Stripe). To prevent unauthorized access, maintain data accuracy, and ensure the appropriate use of information, we have put in place physical, electronic, and administrative procedures to protect the information we collect online.
All of our users’ information, not just the sensitive information mentioned above, is restricted in our offices. Only specific employees, who need the information to perform a specific job or task, are granted access to personally identifiable information. All of our databases are likewise limited in this way and password-protected to ensure that unauthorized users cannot access sensitive data.
-
You can opt out of receiving communications from us. You may request access to personally identifiable information we collect about you through our electronic communications and you may request corrections to that information. For any of these requests or for more information about our privacy policies and practices, please contact us at: info@swibirds.org or (608) 255-2473.
