Your Piece of the Faville Grove Puzzle

Puzzle pieces with habitat images on them

We are thrilled to share the Faville Grove puzzle is complete! Thank you to all of the generous and visionary donors who contributed to this cause.

Our fabulous Faville Grove Sanctuary is expanding! Southern Wisconsin Bird Alliance (SoWBA, formerly Madison Audubon) is proud to share that as of October 17, 2023, we were able to purchase and permanently protect an 80-acre parcel adjacent to Faville Marsh near Lake Mills, WI. This property connects existing sanctuary lands, protecting thriving wetlands and waterways from threats caused by agricultural runoff, harmful invasive species, and herbicide drift.

And nature lovers like you can help us put together this amazing landscape puzzle—and prepare us for future opportunities to protect more habitat for more birds and other wildlife.

With each donation, a piece will be added to the puzzle below. As more supporters contribute, the beautiful landscape you are helping protect will be revealed piece by piece.

Honor your love of birds. Honor a loved one. Add a critical piece to help save valuable land and waters today.

The puzzle is complete! Thank you to all of the wonderful, visionary donors who contributed to this cause!

An emergency acquisition was made to secure this important parcel of land. In order to be able to work quickly for land purchases and protection in the future, we need your help to replenish our land acquisition reserves.

How the puzzle works

Generous supporters of Southern Wisconsin Bird Alliance made lead donations totaling more than $350,000 toward the purchase price of this critical parcel of land. SoWBA also secured a large NAWCA grant to apply toward the purchase. Donors purchased and donated your own piece of the puzzle, watching the landscape emerge as more puzzle pieces are added.

The puzzle Piece options

While every part of this landscape photo is appealing, all puzzle enthusiasts know that some pieces are more diverse and interesting than others. A larger gift resulted in placing a more diverse puzzle piece. And the largest gifts earned a species token!

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Now that the puzzle is complete, can I still donate? Do you still need donations?
Absolutely! The land protection work we do is continuous and ongoing. The Land Acquisition Fund that this puzzle project contributed to is used to make quick, opportunistic, and strategic purchases as land becomes available. Your donation, even after the puzzle is completed, allows that fund to grow and be used when necessary.

What if I don’t want to donate online?
That is absolutely no problem! You are invited to mail a check made out to Southern Wisconsin Bird Alliance with “Faville Puzzle” in the memo line to 211 S. Paterson St., Suite #340, Madison WI 53703. Or, if you would like to make a donation over the phone, please call 608-255-2473 and leave a message; one of our staff will get back to you as soon as possible.

Why are some of the pieces shown in black and white?
Those are partial puzzle piece donations. For example, a donation of $1,000 toward a $2,000 piece. Those pieces need your help to be fully revealed!

What should I do if the amount I want to donate is not listed?
You can purchase multiple pieces to achieve your donation level. In the donation form, be sure to indicate which combination of pieces you would like to purchase!

What if the only pieces left are for more than I can donate?
You can purchase a partial piece! We understand that some pieces will be completed through multiple donations. In these cases, each donation will reveal a bit more of the puzzle piece until the full donation amount is completed. Then, the complete puzzle piece will be revealed.

I made a big donation and can’t wait to work my jigsaw puzzle! When will I receive it?
We will need to wait until the puzzle is completed and species tokens placed before ordering puzzles. We’ll get your puzzle to you as soon as possible after the fundraising campaign wraps up!
