Dan Goltz: Bald Eagles in Wisconsin

  • Aldo Leopold Nature Center 330 Femrite Drive Monona, WI, 53716 United States (map)

Bald Eagles have staged a remarkable comeback throughout the Midwest in the past 40 years.  However, eagles continue to face a variety of challenges in Wisconsin.  This presentation will review eagle nesting surveys in southwestern Wisconsin, causes of mortality, and a study using eagles as an indicator of environmental contaminants.  Photos of Wisconsin eagle nests will illustrate research techniques, eaglet development, prey items and nest site characteristics.

You'll also learn more about the new citizen science program Madison Audubon is launching this winter, Bald Eagle Nest Watch!
