Join us for our annual orchid search and count at Faville Grove Sanctuary! We’ll be on the look-out for the beautiful eastern white-fringed orchid, the beloved species of Aldo Leopold and many others. The count needs a bunch of volunteers to fan out in a line to survey particular prairies at Faville Grove. We’ll meet at the kiosk at W7480 Prairie Lane, Lake Mills, and head out from there.
Schedule:
9 am: meet at kiosk and head to first survey site for survey.
12 pm-ish — Optional: each sack lunches (bring your own) on porch at land steward’s house.
1 pm-ish — Optional: survey second site. This site has slightly more difficult and potentially wet terrain.
Bring: water, sunscreen, bugspray, closed shoes, long pants, a hat, snacks, and whatever other supplies you’d like (a camera is recommended!). If you’d like to have lunch with us on the porch, please bring a sack lunch as well.
To participate: please email or call Brenna at bmarsicek@madisonaudubon.org or 608-255-2473.
