Birds, Bikes, & Brews 2022
Same great event, new springtime vibe!
Sunday, May 22, 12:00-5:00 pm at Capital Brewery
Pre-registration is now closed! Please join us for on-site registration on Sunday, May 22 at Capital Brewery!
Birds, Bikes, & Brews is back, and better than ever — this time with a SPRING-time flair! This awesome event combines some of our favorite things in one stellar afternoon. Join us to BIKE (or walk, or wheel, or pogo-stick, or whatever!) to some wonderful Middleton natural areas, BIRD as you go (we’ll help you find some birds), and enjoy a cold BREW (or cider, water, or soda) and trivia after your ride at Capital Brewery. We invite individuals of all ages, races, abilities, and skill levels to participate!
This is a choose-your-own-adventure kind of event. Regardless of whether you want a long bike ride, a short bike ride, a nice walk, or a wheelchair- or stroller-friendly stroll, we’ve got you covered. We will provide suggestions for great trails and destinations for bird-watching in the area around the local microbrewery.
This event is designed to be accessible and inclusive. Bird-lovers with mobility challenges may request a free all-terrain outdoor wheelchair courtesy of Access Ability Wisconsin, as well as a limited number of hand-cycles provided by Madison SCI available as well (see photos below for examples). You will be able to request a chair or hand-cycle in the registration form. Birding is for every body!
Take your time, see the birds, soak up the views. This is a casual, mosey event that is perfect for nature enthusiasts of all ages. Participants under 21 are welcome and encouraged—we’ll just give you a different drink ticket.
It’s for a great cause! Proceeds benefit our stellar programs, including bird conservation, education, and citizen science.
Here's how it works:
Come to Capital Brewery on Sunday, May 22 any time between 12-5 p.m. to start your afternoon of exploring. Bring your bike, walking shoes, wheelchair or stroller!
Grab a map of the route you’re excited about exploring and a list of birds you might see, and venture out through the beautiful natural areas in Middleton we recommend to look for as many birds as you can find. We will have birding helpers out on the routes to guide your birdwatching!
If you’ve checked out an outdoor all-terrain wheelchair, the chair will be ready and waiting for you near the registration table! You will be able to begin your adventure right then and there.
Enjoy the scenery at your own pace, stop whenever and wherever you want to.
Head back to the brewery, where we'll have a cold one (beer, wine, cider, water, or soda) plus music, trivia, and more waiting for you!
There is no rain date for the event. If our lovely May weather turns sour, you’ll have the option to donate your registration fee or receive a full refund.
And... our fine friends at Capital Brewery will donate $1 to Madison Audubon for each beer, wine, or cider sold during this event!
