Spring Sit

  • Stricker's Pond Middleton, WI United States (map)

Spring is a lovely time to enjoy being outside as the songs and sounds of migrating birds fills the air. The number of different species that pass through even a small area can be remarkable! Join us for a “sit,” where we’ll remain in one spot while looking and listening for any birds who might be in the area. This trip is designed to be intentionally inclusive and accessible for birders of all skill levels.

Let’s meet at Sticker’s Pond (43°05'04.9"N 89°30'30.3"W) and sit in the grassy area off the path. The closest parking is on Longmeadow Road in Middleton.

Spring means that the ground could be muddy or wet in areas. Feel free to bring a camping chair or blanket to sit upon. You are also welcome to bring binoculars and/or field guides. This is an especially good event for photography enthusiasts.

If you wish to use any app-based identification tools (Merlin is a great option), please download and sign up ahead of time. The field trip leader will keep a checklist of all identified birds in the eBird app and will share the list afterward.
