A recent eBird report at Goose Pond Sanctuary

October is an excellent month to visit Goose Pond Sanctuary to enjoy nature. It is rare to have ideal shorebird habitat and some water for waterfowl, but recently, the sanctuary provided habitat for both.

Sandhill Crane Nesting at Goose Pond and Wildland 2022

Sandhill Cranes begin breeding when they are two and three years old. Usually two eggs are laid and most broods only have one colt survive to fledging at 10 weeks old.

This year has been a good year for bufflehead sightings at Goose Pond. On March 29th, the Wisconsin Society for Ornithology had a field trip to Goose Pond and the bird watchers were entertained by seeing a flock of about a dozen buffleheads flying near them.
