Bumble bees pollinate several major crops and many plants that other animals rely on for fruit, flowers, and seeds. In light of evidence that some native bumble bee species are threatened, we must monitor their populations and preserve the habitats where they thrive. Come discover the ecology of these tiny superheroes, catch up on current bee research, and learn how you can plug in to national conservation efforts. We will peek inside an old bee nest and practice ID skills before heading to the prairie for a guided observation walk. Sun protection, bug spray, water, and a camera are recommended.
