Get a great experience looking for birds, insects, and aquatic plants by boat; we expect to see species like Green Heron, Kingfishers, swallows, and more. Then after the paddle, join us for hanging out and socializing across the road at Murphy’s Bar & Restaurant.

We will put our canoes and kayaks into the water at the boat launch at Cherokee Marsh-South Unit. The parking lot is packed gravel, with the ramp to the water concrete that turns to gravel in the water. It is fairly level and stable ground.

Join Madison Audubon staff for a slow paddle exploring the incredible diversity of the Waubesa Wetlands State Natural Area south of Madison. This natural area is considered by Wisconsin Wetlands Association to be a Wetland Gem, and features high-quality fens, wet meadows, springs, and abundant wildlife.
