Birding for all bodies: Announcing our new electric-powered wheelchair!

“Let’s go birding!” It sounds so fun, so easy! And for many people it is, yet for others who face mobility challenges, that phrase is fraught with unknowns.

At Badgerland Bird Alliance, we feel a need and desire to facilitate ANYONE who wants to enjoy birds to be able to do so. We are excited to offer a tool to help alleviate some of the mobility-related concerns: our new electric wheelchair, made for outdoor use!

Help gather Milkweed seeds: Fall 2023!

Milkweeds are the host plant for monarch caterpillars, making them essential for healthy monarch populations. This fall, Madison Audubon and in particular our staff at Goose Pond Sanctuary have established a goal for volunteers to collect 100 pounds of pure, live milkweed seed for the butterflies, and we need your help!

The primary focus is on common, butterfly, whorled, and swamp (red) milkweed seeds.

Listening to Will Rogers

Listening to Will Rogers

Will Rogers famously said, “God isn't making any more land.” In other words, we'd better take care of what's there. Thank goodness, the Wisconsin DNR, Dane County, and Madison Audubon are listening, and just stepped up to do just that.
