Journeying about as far north as you can get in summer, the Greater White-fronted Goose will make its way north over the next month. The major push of their migration occurs in the Great Plains; however, a small contingent of forms a flyway through eastern Wisconsin.

Songbird box monitors know it is the duty of every good Tree Swallow parent to defend their young. Nine volunteers monitored 116 boxes at Goose Pond and Erstad Prairie in 2022, and reported 485 successfully fledged Tree Swallows.

Brown Creeper

The Brown Creeper is a delightful find, and can be seen throughout winter in Wisconsin scuttling in spirals up big old trees. When threatened, they stay incredibly still, their perfectly camouflaged plumage making a believable chunk of bark.

Poynette CBC's Black-legged Kittiwake

The 51st Poynette Christmas Bird Count, coordinated by Susan Foote-Martin and Mark Martin, was held on New Year’s Eve 2022. Ten feeder counters, plus three dozen field counters—who walked 19 miles and drove 488 miles—found 68 species and 10,183 birds.
