About the instructors
Michael and Kathi Rock have been gardening for hummingbirds for over 20 years. Their garden was highlighted in a film called A Place in the Garden at the 2017 Wisconsin Film Festival. They publish a newsletter, The Hummingbird Nectar News, about hummingbird gardening in the northern U.S. and maintain the website hummingbirdgardening.net.
Emily and Larry Scheunemann are retired school teachers that have created a rich natural habitat full of native plant species to attract wildlife to their Whitewater home. Larry is an avid hummingbird photographer.
Mickey O’Connor is one of two hummingbird banders in the state of Wisconsin and is an avian zookeeper at the Milwaukee County Zoo. She has been banding birds at the Scheunemanns’ property since 2014.
