Mighty Migrations: The Mystery of Migration
One of the most fascinating aspects of the lives of birds is their ability to migrate thousands of miles as they follow the changing seasons. This presentation by Wisconsin bird expert Bill Volkert will explore the annual migration of birds, their seasonal phenology, and explore recent studies that are revealing more information and instilling greater wonder over the phenomenon of bird migration.
Birds not only come and go with the seasons but they do so in the same order every year. This program will provide an insight into why birds migrate and the orderly succession of species that arrive in Wisconsin each spring.
This presentation is part of the Mighty Migrations Series, a set of three webinars that feature three INCREDIBLE migration-related topics:
“The Mystery of Migration” by Bill Volkert on August 25, 7pm CT
“Reading the Night Sky: Ecological Forecasting for Bird Conservation” by Kyle Horton on August 26, 7pm CT
“Conserving Birds One Cup of Coffee at a Time” by Kristin Hill on August 27, 7pm
This series is co-hosted by Southern Wisconsin Bird Alliance, SOS Save Our Songbirds, and the Natural Resources Foundation of Wisconsin.
