This yellow warbler is one of the lucky ones. It struck a window, but unlike the hundreds of millions of birds that die after colliding with windows, this warbler was able to recover and fly away. We love these happy endings! And, we can make more of them by working together. Join the Bird Collision Corps this spring (April 12 - June 1, weekly surveys) to help learn more about bird-window collisions and how we can best prevent them.
Or if you can't volunteer but want to help, you can sign our petition in support of Madison's Bird-Safe Glass Ordinance!
We are proud to announce a new partnership with Promega Corporation this spring! In addition to the UW-Madison campus, the American Family Insurance national headquarters campus, and Urban Land Interests buildings around Capitol Square, volunteers are now invited to help monitor buildings on the Promega campus in Fitchburg.
Each of the four sites have availabilities for volunteers to help out. Learn more about the program, choose your preferred location, and pick a day of the week to monitor. We'll provide training and materials. The program has been adjusted to incorporate COVID-19 prevention protocols, making this a great pandemic activity.
Or, if you can't volunteer, please SIGN our petition to make Madison more bird-friendly.
Up to a BILLION birds die each year as a result of hitting windows. It is a big issue, with big implications, and the good news is that it's preventable! Learn about Madison's Bird-Safe Glass Ordinance, the legal challenge to reverse the ordinance, and SIGN THE PETITION to support bird-safe buildings.
Please let us know if you have any questions. Please join us in this important work this spring!
