It is early spring, and Eastern Bluebirds are back. Our first arrivals at Fair Meadows Sanctuary this year showed up on February 9—a pair that were hanging around the house and feeders in the early morning.
A liquid song echoes whole through springtime woods. At dawn, midday, or dusk the bird might sing, but its song delivers an energy and briskness in those crepuscular hours as the sun rises and sets. Cheerio, cheerio, cheerio.
Out of the ten Motus towers in Wisconsin, four of them have detected a total of 16 individual Swainson’s Thrushes from British Columbia. To date, none of those have been picked up in South America like our intrepid friend #57677.
